Pushpa Bagga

Classical Singer and Teacher

 
 

Dr. Pushpa Bagga holds a doctorate in Hindustani classical vocal music from University of Delhi. She started her training at the age of eight under the renowned music director Late Shri Mohan Upreti who was also the music professor at the National School of Drama. Later she pursued her advanced training under the eminent gurus Shri S.k. Bannerji and Late Smt. Shanti Sharma at Bhartiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi. Along with her training under her guru, she also pursued B.A., M.A. and M.Phil in music from Delhi University where she was a gold medalist and later went on to do her PhD in music.

Since her childhood, Pushpa was active in pursuing theatre and music and travelled worldwide under the banner of ICCR for performances in prestigious theatre and music festivals. Later she also became the president of the group Parvatiya Kala Kendra that was founded by Late Shri Mohan Upreti himself and worked extensively in promoting the folk culture of Uttarakhand through various musical productions.

She has a teaching experience of over 30 years and has been religiously passing on her knowledge in music to the next generations.
